Stop Using Distractions As An Excuse


I hate them, but like them at the same time. I can’t help myself at times. I use them ’cause it’s like a hit, a quick fix to get me out of feeling guilty for not doing what I’m really supposed to be doing in order to get ahead in life.

You KNOW what distractions I’m talking about. The ones that disguise themselves as the things we THINK we need to do. The stuff we put way ahead of what’s REALLY IMPORTANT, like the stuff that WILL create the lives we so crave.

Cleaning the house, checking our email, checking what’s on sale at Nordstrom, calling a friend to go out to eat, doing favors for others, doing laundry, running non priority errands around town.

Yeah, those distractions.

As I said before.

I like them ’cause they keep me from feeling the shame, guilt and pain for not taking the necessary action I know I need to take to move forward with my dreams.

From feeling the agony of watching others create amazing lives while I stay stuck.

I use them as a buffer. I convince myself that all these things I’m doing are really important and that I am being productive in my life…but the truth is…I’m not.

Distractions are like numbing pills. The moment I feel that uncomfortableness, either the uncomfortableness from actually putting myself out there (scary) or the uncomfortableness from the judgment of not doing what I’m really supposed to be doing…I quickly find another distraction.

But then, it catches up with me when my awareness kicks into full effect.

AND that’s when I hate them.

I then beat myself up mentally telling for not moving forward. I then feel vibrationally low and tell myself,

“Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow will be different.”

Does that ever sound like you?

So, what are you suppose to do?

Well, fortunately and unfortunately, the ONLY way out is to move. MOVE into action or else you’ll just be miserable forever. You’ll just keep sabotaging your life and never feel fulfilled, free or happy

You can run but you can’t hide…

You just can’t.

Now this is the crazy part of it all. No matter what you do, you’ll feel pain, you’ll feel discomfort. When you step into your greatness, step into your light, step into your power, share your gifts, be the creative that you are…

You will feel uncomfortable, physical manifestations (stomach issues, heart racing, fear, sweaty, straight up discomfort, everything in your body will be telling you ‘this is a bad idea’)

You’ll feel as though you’re doing it wrong. Like you shouldn’t even bother doing it at all ’cause it probably won’t work after all.

And that feeling totally blows. It effs with your head and you avoid it as much as you can.

But if you don’t move then you’ll never know if you could have made it happen, if you could have lived the life of your dreams, the one that lives in your heart and, become who you were born to be, who you KNOW you crave to be

You’ll continue to see everyone around you with more courage moving forward with their dreams, proving to you that if you continue to use distractions as a cop out, if you continue to let fear run your life and, not let the world see what you’ve got to offer and make something of yourself, then you’ll end up miserable.

You’ll then realize that not one distraction will ever really allow you to escape this feeling.

It will keep you awake at night, visit you every single day,  every moment until you run out of distractions and just face it head on.

It’s like being in purgatory which is the worst place to be. Damn if you do and damn if you don’t, right?

However, I do know the truth. The truth being that everything we want in life is on the other side of fear.

And the sooner you pull the trigger..

The sooner you’ll be liberated, the more aligned you will be, the more alive you will feel

And the less opportunity there will be to beat yourself down for not doing what you know you are suppose to do.

NOTHING will make you feel better unless you do what your soul is calling you to do.


Taking the necessary ACTION to get you where you really want to be.

I promise you that the moment you take that step, even just a small action step.

You will feel so much better.  More into your full being and powerful self

Let TODAY be the day you don’t let distractions run your life.

Do what you need to do and I PROMISE…you’ll land were you’re supposed to be.

Into your extraordinary life.
